It’s that time of year where candy is everywhere. But do you know the spookiest Halloween fact of all? It only takes about 20 ounces of milk chocolate, 10 ounces of semi sweet chocolate, or 2.25 ounces of baking chocolate to kill a 22lb dog. The smaller your dog is the smaller the fatal dose of chocolate would be. Theobromine and caffeine are the main toxins in chocolate that can affect dogs. While humans can easily process these ingredients, dogs metabolize them much slower which can cause damage to their nervous, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems. So make sure when your kids come home with their bags full of chocolate, you store them in a safe space away from your dog.
